Easter Day, Every Day: Songs of Inspiration from the Gospel

Today, I was combing through my previous master song list for Easter to consider what songs we might want to include in this year's Easter service. As I was listening to and thinking about these songs, I was at the same time inspired and saddened. I was inspired by incredible music (both lyrically and musically), and inspired by the richness, depth, breadth, height and length of the love of Christ described in the Gospel. It was overwhelmingly amazing to worship through these songs. But then the thought hit me -- Oh, no! Many of the folks in our church don't know some of these songs. Why not? Honestly, it would be very easy for me to explain it (or explain it away): "Oh, it's just not their kind of music," or "There are other songs that may go better with the pastor's message," or "As a generationally-diverse and culturally-diverse church, these songs might only connect with a few people," or "We probably only have the capacity to introduce a maximum of 12 new songs per year; so we better choose something that balances longevity, connection, sing-ability, and relevance to this week's particular message or theme".

While some of this may be true, I still cannot explain away the truth that the gospel message is at the very heart of our worship. It is always fitting -- 365 days a year. Songs about the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ are as timely appropriate for our everyday worship as they are for a special corporate Easter service that's here on minute and gone the next. For that reason, I'm declaring it "Easter Day, Every Day"!

I love to watch worship videos on YouTube. It gets my mind and heart focused on Christ, and cultivates within me a heart of worship. Today, I am listing a bunch of gospel-rich songs to help you live out the gospel in your heart and life.
